Completely renovated in 2018, the Pinacoteca houses a precious and select collection of art in its elegant Palazzo Martinengo da Barco venue.
The exhibition itinerary starts from the 14th century and places admirable decorative art objects alongside paintings. Through testimonies of absolute fame such as Raphael’s Angel and the Redeemer and Lorenzo Lotto’s Adoration of the Shepherds, we arrive at the heart of the collection, consisting of Brescian Renaissance painting with Savoldo, Romanino and Moretto. Here a peculiar attention to reality is manifested, which then reaches up to the very human season of Giacomo Ceruti’s “pitocchi”. The tour concludes with the nineteenth century of Canova and Hayez.
In the rooms enriched by precious colored velvets and frescoed ceilings, one encounters the works of such masters as Raphael, Lorenzo Lotto, Vincenzo Foppa, Savoldo, Romanino, Moretto, Giacomo Ceruti, Andrea Appiani, Antonio Canova, Berthel Thorvaldsen and Francesco Hayez, as well as mind-blowing sculptures, fine Venetian glassware and curious cabinets populated by pygmies.
